Marketing & Communications Intern
Title: Marketing & Communications Intern
Supervisor: Director of Organizational Training and Consulting
Summary: The purpose of this position is to support the marketing and communications efforts of the Organizational
Training and Consulting team.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Offer input for the fall diversity forum marketing strategy and assist in its implementation.
- Maintain NMCI’s relationship with our community through the production and distribution of a monthly electronic Newsletter; generating content and updating addresses in the listserve
- Serve as a central new media initiative team member.NMCI’s new media initiative involves the implementation of a web-based networking, e-learning and social media platform. Intern responsibilities will include: participating in marketing and communication strategy development, implementing that plan, and generating and updating multimedia content.
- Support the work of the OTC staff in updating and creating content for the organization’s website
- Design and execute strategy for marketing of NMCI publication with measurable results.
- Track news stories related to diversity and multiculturalism topics in order to identify opportunities for NMCI to respond with letters to the editor and, collect information that will be used at content for newsletters, the NMCI website and new media platform website.
- Support the work of the Organizational Training and Consulting Team to digitize critical curriculum materials and create new curricula in multimedia formats
Education
- The ideal candidate will have completed some graduate-level training
Abilities:
- This position requires a commitment of 24 hours/week.
- The intern will be expected to work independently, manage multiple tasks, report regularly to the OTC staff and NMCI’s President on progress, work effectively as a member for the OTC team
- The intern will have a strong commitment to facilitating personal and system change in order to build an inclusive society that is strengthened and empowered by its diversity
- The intern will take a proactive approach to learning about NMCI and the field of diversity and multiculturalism
Knowledge:
- Knowledge, interest and aptitude in web-based communication applications and strategiesfamiliarity with multiple social networking applications
- Knowledge and experience in marketing and communications
Skills:
- Strong and professional written and oral communication skills intermediate to advanced skills in the Microsoft Office Suite
- Web design multimedia software
Duration of internship: early June to early/mid August. Extensions are possible. We are happy to make reasonable accommodations for vacation scheduling.
